So I started this blog forever ago, and then never did anything with it. I presume I still won't do much with it. However, the time (summer) has come for me to at least pretend I'm going to do something with it.
For starters, a life update. About a month ago, I graduated with a BS in Symbolic Systems from Stanford. For those of you who don't know what SymSys is, it's a study of the way in which information, encoded in symbols, can be organized in to systems. This ranges (moving up the abstraction layer from artificial systems to natural systems) from a study of formal logic to algorithms to artificial intelligence to human-computer interaction to linguistics and cognitive science.
Nowadays, I work as an intern at Mozilla Labs. In Labs, I work on the boundary between Applications and Identity. Specifically, I am building the architecture which will allow for creating a social stream out of your application usage, and then using this stream to build an App Store with strong social aspects.
I still play in a band called The Sea People, and we're doing pretty well. Finishing up our first album, which we'll release slowly over the summer and then as a whole in the fall. Definitely check out the first two tracks, linked right above.
Moving forward, I'm going to be blogging about my work in Labs, and other such hackish/design things. I also, inevitably, will write about politics... although, like most every person between the ages of 20 and 30, I must admit my teeth have rather fallen out of late.
So yeah! Stay tuned for some inside digs about the future of the internet, the world of web design, links to some great music, and the occasional political outburst.
